Correct Answer - Il se fait maquiller

My Answer - Il s'est fait maquiller


Can someone explain this subtlety here?

' Il se fait maquiller ' is in the present tense and matches the tense of the sentence in the question ' he is having his make-up done '.

 ' Il s'est fait maquiller ' is passé composé - past tense, ' he had his make-up done '.  

See the relevant example and note from the lesson :  

         " Il s'est fait couper les cheveux.

He had his hair cut.   
Remember that reflexive verbs use être as auxiliary in compound tenses. "
