subjunctive after comment ca se fait que......
This question relates to:French lesson "Comment ça se fait/Comment se fait-il que... ? = How come/How is it that...? (French Questions)"
Asked 3 weeks ago
Bonjour Jacqueline,
"Comment ça se fait que..." (which means "How come..." or "How is it that...") introduces an element of doubt, surprise, or uncertainty about the situation that follows. In French, when a clause expresses doubt, emotion, surprise, possibility, or uncertainty, it triggers the use of Le Subjonctif. So, in effect, you’re reacting to something unexpected or wondering about how something could be true. It's this emotional/subjective viewpoint that triggers the use of Le Subjonctif.
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !
