Trop de

"trop de bonbons"

Is "trop" always coupled with "de" when it is followed by a noun?

Hi Gary,

Indeed expressions of quantity using adverbs have a 'de' before the nouns -

beaucoup de = a lot of ( many)

trop de too many

assez de enough of

peu de = few ( not many )

etc.

Hope this helps!

Hi Gary,

"to eat too many sweets"   --> trop de      https://www.wordreference.com/fren/trop

Look at the fifth usage down on the list of these adverbs.

Hope this helps.

Bonne journée

Jim

Is this also true for other expressions of quantities like quelques, plusieurs and de nombreux/nombreuse?
