Tu te laves toi-même!

You're washing yourself! (i.e. You do it on your own!)

I thought when it means on your own it is 'tout seul'. Is this phrase idiomatic, and doesn't necessary mean 'washing'? I am confused with i.e. you do it on your own. For example, can I use this phrase to say a kid baked a cake on his own?

Hi Cher,

In this example and talking to a child you could say both -

Tu te laves tout seul/ toi-même You wash yourself

and if you used a non-reflexive verb it would be the same  -

Tu fais ça tout seul /toi même = You do that on your own

Tu fais ton gâteau tout seul/toi même You make your cake on your own

Hope this helps!
