To me vrai , whether it is placed before or after ‘cuisine’ means ‘authentic’.
Are you thinking of the adjective ‘drôle ‘ which with story can mean ‘funny’ in
‘Une histoire drôle’
and
‘quite a story’ in ‘Une drôle d’histoire’?
