May the (Labour) Force Be with You !This week, we’re celebrating May 1st by cheering on workers of all trades, whose passion and hard work help our communities thrive. Oh, and on May 4th, we also celebrate another special “Force” 😉🌟 In France, May 1st (or La Fête du Travail) comes with a few interesting traditions. First of all, it’s worth noting that this day is the only public holiday in France where employers are legally bound to give their workers the day off, with few exceptions (such as hospitals and public transport). It’s also the day when French people give each other lily of the valley, as a lovely Spring reminder. And finally, it’s also an oh-so-French day of marches and demonstrations organised by trade unions in major cities to defend workers’ rights. And you, what do you do on May 1st? 😎 Alors, sans plus attendre, tie your bootstraps and get to work on all the hand-crafted French Kwiziq content we’ve selected for you! 🛠️☺️ Quote me on this!French author Marie Le Gall (1955- ) ![]() May 1st is the jour du muguet in France, so let’s start this Newsletter with a sweet quote by French novelist Marie Le Gill about the lovely lily of the valley : “Le muguet est un mot doux que la nature glisse entre les pages d’avril et de mai.” (Lily of the valley is a love letter that nature slips between the pages of April and May.)
