Comment vous appelez-vous?

I learned the version above years ago. Is the “vous vous” form of the question most common now? Or less formal?

This question relates to:French lesson "Saying your name with Je m'appelle/Tu t'appelles/Vous vous appelez"

Bonjour Kate,

The use of the 'vous' form to address someone depends on whether you know them well or the degree of formality in the relationship you have with them.
