DONT oui mais pour quoi pas "ainsi que" aussi??

Ugh! "J'ai trois chats, dont (ainsi que) deux chats siamois". I know that this lesson was gearing towards DONT but would not ainsi que work as well?

‘ainsi que’ and ‘dont’ do not have the same meaning and are not interchangeable. 
The first is a conjunction, and would translate in the sentence you give as ‘ as well as (in addition) ‘. That would be the equivalent of saying ‘ … 3 cats as well as 2 Siamese cats ‘
Dont is a relative pronoun and can be translated in this sentence as ‘ including (of which…). This gives the equivalent of ‘ …. 3 cats including 2 Siamese cats ( or 3 cats, of which 2 are Siamese cats )
