Question

You show the flag mounted with both the blue side and the red side against the flagpole. This is clearly incorrect.

Having watched the graphics I agree with you Laura, that the blue should be near the pole and there are both versions in this exercise.
However, this is a third party resource and we didn’t have any control on the text or the graphics.
I think the story of our 'fête nationale' is highly valuable nevertheless don’t you think ?

To me this is clearly deliberate - it would be quickly picked up by many young French children and laughed at (they are the target audience of this series - wow, they speak fast in it though) ! Entertaining and educational.

For older groups, the clip contrasts the day as a great fête - the dancing and the fireworks being what the day is ‘all about’ for many young and not so young - against its history of bloody and violent revolution, that still influences daily life in France over 200 years later. So much has happened between then and now, but the flag and the nation are both still greatly respected on one hand, while disrespected or even despised as symbols of ongoing, contested social struggles on the other.

A fascinating, complex, amazing, frustrating, wonderful country and nation - vive la France !
