French verb conjugation sites don't agree

Looking for more detail on these verbs, I couldn't find ANY French verb conjugation sites that conjugated verbs like AMUSER, MAQUILLER, REPOSER, or even DÉCÉDER with ÊTRE. They all use AVOIR. Why is that?

Hi Donna,

It is because all of these verbs are mainly use as reflexive verbs -

s’amuser, se maquiller, se reposer, se décider

As such they all take theauxiliary être.

Hope this helps!

Just an example, where the verb décider is once used transitively with avoir and then in a reflexive construction with être.

Il a décidé la question. -- He decided the question (the matter).
Il s'est décidé. -- He made up his mind. ("He decided himself.")
