Bonjour Carol,

As Maarten mentioned, this kwiz question relates specifically to the lesson 'il faut' and therefore the expected answer is 'il faut...'. As such, using dictation / fill-in-the-blanks / writing exercises is the best way in oder to check and test your knowledge.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

“J’ai besoin de trois œufs” is fine for ‘need’, but the system in use here is that questions on specific lessons require specific answers. If the lesson is “il  faut” - the answer is “il faut”, or ‘Il me faut..’ in this case.

This can be frustrating when you want to test or check your language use generally, rather than just answer the quiz question. The bot just isn’t ‘smart enough’ to know what you know when you do that in a quiz, so you have to restrict that to the free text exercises instead.

Hi Carol,

"Il me faut" has a stronger sense of necessity / requirement.

"Avoir besoin de" has a sense of need but less strong.

This is my understanding  --  Hope it helps.

Jim
