Is "parsemez" an acceptable alternative to "arrosez"?

At linguee.com, I saw the sentence "Parsemer de jus de citron, de piment vert et d'oignon doux ciselés."

Hi Ian,

I haven't done this particular exercise but Tom's explanation is correct . 

Normally arroser is for liquids and although I would translate as, to drizzle I think the French conveys a larger quantity...

Parsemer is to sprinkle with ...so it could be almonds, cheese, sugar ...

Hi Ian,

In general terms I don't think so.

I believe that arrosser indicates the use of some kind of liquid while parsemer relates to solids.

Having said that I am aware of one figurative use of arroser in the phrase:

        arroser de balles - spray with bullets

I would welcome the input of native speaker of this topic.
