The english is ' until she can do it herself' . 'toute seule' I think translates here as 'on her own'. Should it not be 'elle-meme'?

We discussed your query. You're correct that you could say "elle-meme" here. However, this question is a multiple-choice question only. Therefore, there's only one correct answer to choose from here.
In context, the nuance is very subtle. Using "toute seule" means "alone/unaided" whereas "elle-même" means that she is the one doing the action because she has the skills to do so.

I see what you mean, Chris. I will flag this up as I would have been tempted to say 'elle-même' given that the English was 'herself' rather than 'on her own'.
