Same  question: you have a word for female acteur: actrice, so the correct answer here is Michael is speaking: je suis acteur, but you have a word for a female professeur (namely, professeure) so why is the correct answer not Leon to the question who is speaking " je suis professeur"

The difference is, Laura, that the female word for actor -

actrice

has existed forever in French, and French actrices don't mind using it when they are talking about themselves.

The word 'professeure' is relatively new, and I still balk at using it myself, although my French colleagues tell me this is so now.

Language evolves with the times ...
