that is the partitive expression ‘ de l’aide ‘ - in English we can drop ‘some’ from ‘ some help ‘, but ‘ de l’ ‘ cannot be dropped in French.  The examples in the lesson do include ‘ some ‘ in the translation however.

There are limited situations in which a noun in French can be/is used without a preceding article/determiner - eg ‘ describing ‘ someone’s profession, after some prepositions etc . You will pick these up as you go along - in general you can otherwise assume that when it is (verb -) noun, an article is needed with the noun. You will note that all the verb-noun examples in the lesson include an article/determiner before the noun.

Du/de la/de l'/des = Some/any (French Partitive Articles)
