Le Present form of devenir

Question

The lesson Question: Nous ________ insomniaques avec l'âge.

We're becoming insomniac with age.(HINT: Conjugate "devenir" (to become) in Le Présent)
I wrote "devons" which is consistent with the exampls of Le Present shown in the Discuss and Learn for venir and tenir. But the answer that was stated as correct was "devenons". I am confused as this is not consisten with any of the 'ir' verbs I have learned so far.

You missed out one whole syllable -

venir ----> nous venons
tenir ----> nous tenons
revenir ----> nous revenons
devenir ----> nous devenons

Nous devons is actually the present tense of 'devoir.'
Nous devons aller au marché ce matin. = We must go to the market this morning.

Salut! Bruce,Very happy to try to help, consider the verb roots.Nous devenons is correct, and consistent with the verb roots deven(ir), ven(ir), ten(ir).Perhaps this is what is confusing the conjugation of these verbs for you?Bonne journéeJim
