Hi Carol,

I can't find the text that you are querying.

Remember that "me" is a direct and also an indirect object pronoun, whereas "moi" would occur after a preposition and is a stressed pronoun.

I suspect that this is the reason why "moi" was not acceptable, but I'm speculating without seeing the text.

Yes, it would be better if you could post the entire sentence. But assuming that the phrase ...à mon père came at the end of the sentence, mon is a possessive pronoun, which will always me mon (for a male noun), regardless where in the sentence or whether it follows a preposition. If it were ...à moi, then moi is the stress pronoun, which always follows a preposition or is used at the end of a sentence.

Cette voiture est à mon père. -- This car belongs to my father.
Cette voitre est à moi. -- This car belongs to me.
C'est ma voiture. -- It is my car.

Without knowing what exactly you have a problem with, it may be that you're confusing me as an indirect object pronoun with the stress pronoun.

Il parle à mon père. -- He speaks to my father.
Il me parle. -- He speaks to me. (indirect object pronoun)
Parle-moi ! -- Speak to me! (stress pronoun, because it's at the end of the sentence)
