Offrir v donner
This question relates to:French lesson "Conjugate offrir/souffrir in the present tense in French (Le Présent)"
Asked 1 month ago
Hi Peter,
"Offrir" means "to offer" or "to give as a gift"
"Donner" means "to give" in a more general sense
For instance :
Donne-moi ta main ! = Give me your hand!
Il faut que tu me donnes l'adresse de Louise = You have to give me Louise's address
But
Il a offert de m'emmener à Paris = He has offered to take me to Paris
Il m'offre des fleurs pour la fête des mères = He buys/gives me flowers on Mother's day
Hope this clarifies the difference for you .
Bonne Continuation!

Think of offrir as "to offer" and donner as "to give". That should give you some good starting point.
