Can the Le Passe compose be used in formal writing. If not, then which tense is it replaced with?

Hi Anish, 

Yes, you can use the passé composé in writing, letters, emails, texts, etc. I think you are maybe thinking of the use of the 'passé simple' ( past historic) which is used in literature, including children's literature?
