It seems that requérir can double as meaning both "require" and "request",
despite the fact that the translations you gave for it were:
requérir (to require/call for [something])and did not mention 'request':
(Nous requérons votre présence à cet événement.
We're requesting your presence at this event.)I don’t think there is any intention for the brief definitions here to be the equivalent of a comprehensive bilingual dictionary.
wordreference and Collins both translate ‘call for’ as synonyms for the English words ‘require’ or ‘request’, among other synonyms, so it seems pretty well covered already

I tend to use French monolingual dictionaries as much as possible - interestingly Larousse uses the phrase ‘faire un appel à qqn’ in its definitions of “requérir”.
