Question

I am confused by how these words are used. In the Reader above the second paragraph begins: Pour commencer, j'espère de tout cœre qu'il fera beau.....Why is ce qu'ilnot used?

The 'que' in that sentence is just 'that' linking the two clauses.
I hope with all my heart that the weather will be nice that day 
The relevant Kwiziq lesson is the following one -
Que = Whom, which, that (relative pronouns)
 Here is how to use 'ce que' -
Ce que (vs ce qui) = what, which (relative pronouns)

Hi Terry,I wonder if you realise that it is possible to simply "click" the text to read the meaning?I don't think that a relative pronoun is appropriate here  -- "I hope with all my heart that it will be nice ...."The inference is to the future weather being nice  "that it will be nice that day"Hope this helps.Bonne Journée    Jim

Ce que -- that which.Try substituting "that which" and see if the sentence still makes sense. If not, it isn't appropriate.J'aime ce que tu as fait. -- I like what (that which) you did.J'aime que tu sois revenu. -- I like that you came back.
