Un pique-nique

Un pique-nique

Is 'un pique-nique' really a packed lunch in French and not a picnic?  Could you say "J'ai pris un pique-nique au travail" and it means some food that you took from home and ate at work?  I always assumed 'un pique-nique' was really the same as in English, taking food from home to sit and eat outside somewhere in the sun.

Bonjour Miranda,

J'apporte mon déjeuner au travail tous les jours = I bring a packed lunch with me everyday at work

Les enfants reçoivent un panier-repas the children get a packed-lunch

Nous ferons un pique-nique en route = We will have a picnic on the way

Papa prépare le pique-nique = Dad is preparing the picnic

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
