Votre comportement __________ toute l'enquête.

Votre comportement __________ toute l'enquête.

I wrote "Votre comportement avez compromis" and it was marked wrong, the correct answer given was "a compromis". Why is the answer 2nd person singular when the subject is 2nd person plural? What am I forgetting?

Hi Terri,

As Chris rightly says it's a question of correct person agreement. In this case 3rd person singular:

If the sentence had been "Vous avez compromis toute l'enquête" indeed it would have been 'avez' but as it is 'votre comportement' (your behaviour) it is-  'it' has = a compromis.

Hope this helps!

Hi Terri, let's examine the sentence more closely:

Votre comportement is the subject and "votre" is just a possessive pronount to comoportement. So the subject is third person singular. Therefore the verb needs to match this; and 3rd person singular of "avoir" is "a".

You are both right, I hadn't caught that my English grammar was wrong!  Thank you to both of you.
