I’m having trouble figuring out why it’s je me fais FAIRE de nouvelles sandales. In other similar constructions, il se fait couper les cheveux, FAIRE isn’t necessary yet the meaning is similar in that they both are having something done. What am I missing?

In France is “ Maison de retraite “ interchangeable with “Ephad”?

Is there any distinction between a facility where aged people live together and do not need care and a facility where aged people need nursing care?

Il faut or devoir?

Hi, to say “I must” is there a difference between when one would use ‘Il faut que je …” instead of “je dois”? Or are they equivalent? (I believe devoir is simply followed by an infinitive rather than by the subjunctive with falloir, so it’s simpler to use!) Thanks.

Example 6: Je LEUR lis une histoire...Does this mean "lire" is a verb for which "à" is commonly applied? Or is it in this case that the full sentence would be "Je lis une histoire à mes enfants", and hence the usage of "leur" is warranted?
