Why does the adjective in this case come prior to the noun:
Lisa est une très bonne vendeuse.
But in this case (also describing goodness or quality) it comes after:
Maurice est un professeur excellent.
Does this indicate that the BAGS guideline doesn't apply to the adjective excellent?
Here's a famous mnemonic tip to help you remember adjectives that come before the noun: you can call them the BAGS adjectives, which stand for
Beauty (joli/beau)
Age (vieux/jeune)
Goodness (gentil/méchant).
Hello, in this story, when they are at the library, shouldn't 'choose' be used here rather than 'chose'?
Thanks.
Can you also say ' Je n'étais pas permise à les manipuler'?
The passage in question is, "pour que votre repas soit un succès !" I couldn't hear the "pour" at all despite running the audio track several times.
I had written this as plural: "différentes combinaisions lors des combats", but on listening again, what was said before it was clearly "à" rather than "aux", so I changed it to singular: "à différente combinaision lors de combats".
Since it is actually plural - which certainly makes more sense! - I cannot understand why it isn't "aux différentes combinaisions" ?
How would one differentiate between "He hates the coffee shop" and "he hates the coffee" ? They Both seem to be "il déteste le café". Would you use "les cafes" for all of them and "c'est cafe" for a specific one?
"Je suis blonde avec des cheveux longs et bouclés"
Can someone put me on to a link as to why this uses des, and not les?
To me , des means "some", so literally : "I have some long and curly hair".
I thought you needed to use le/la/les for body parts ?
Using le, la, les with body parts and clothing (definite articles)
Thanks, Paul.
Hello,
Why do we use etait allée below instead of est allée?
ex. Il a laissé sa voiture au garage après qu'elle était allée à la banque.
There was a question:
Je suis retourné me coucher après que tu es parti. (correct answer as per quiz)
Should it be "Je suis retourné me coucher après que tu etais parti?
is the given example.
Why is that preferable to
Où allez-vous cette année?
