J'aurai vs. Je serai. What's the difference?I'm bit confused by these two examples: J'aurai sûrement un quart d'heure de retard. I will probably be fifteen minutes late. Je serai sûrement en retard d'un quart d'heure. I will probably be fifteen minutes late. If "j'aurai" and "je serai" both mean "I will", how do I know which one to use?

Why do we use "après que" instead of "après" if there is no subjunctive verb to follow?Hi, What is the difference between these two sentences? Elles rentrent après que le bus les a déposées. Elles rentrent après le bus les a déposées. I don't understand why the second one is not correct so I guess I don't understand when to use "après que" vs a simple "après." Don't they mean the same thing? Is there a rule? Thanks.

Après-midi: Masculin ou feminin?Google translate says that the word après-midi is masculine, i.e. this afternoon = cet après-midi. But, when I enter "one afternoon", Google translate writes it as: "UNE après-midi", which sounds much better to me than "UN après-midi." Is there some rule about this , and does it apply to any other words in French? Or is Google translate making an error ?
