I am finding these extremely difficult, for some reason, despite doing a lot of wotk on ce que / que etc. It would be helpful if you could find some way of explaining why the wrong answers are wrong.

What about De Qui?'

I found Chris' post very helpful. Merci! What remains unclear is the use of de qui. Couple of specific questions 1) Can I say both "La fille dont je parle" or "la fille de qui je parle"? Or does the verbal clause (parler de) require dont even if it's a person? 2) Do I use de qui with a prep phrase in stead of duquel (and its derivatives)? For example, "La fille près de qui je me suis assise" Would "'de laquelle" be equally acceptable in that sentence?

Expression: "...comme le veut la tradition"

I find this expression interesing: "comme le veut la tradition". Is there a specific lesson for that?

Would it work also in these examples? E.g. "The cake was made of chocolate, like how he wanted it." "The red coat is more beautiful, as she says."

Passer avec être ou avoir

Why is « ils sont passées »correct when one says « They passed the morning bringing eggs.. » Isn’t « to pass the morning » or « to pass the weekend » a transitive use of the verb, therefore « avoir »?
