in the other avoir+verb lessons, it says that the verb does not need to agree with the subject's gender and number. Is that the case here too?

avoir+verb
This question relates to:French lesson "Avoir faim/soif = To be hungry/thirsty (French Expressions with avoir)"
Asked 3 days ago
Bonjour Hazel,
Are you referring to "avoir" + [past participle]? If so, then, the past participle does not agree compared to using "être" + [past participle]. However, it does under specific cases. Take a look here: Le Passé Composé (Indicatif)
Also, this lesson is part of the French expressions using "avoir": Idiotismes avec avoir. This is different: here, the conjugation of the verb "avoir" will change depending on the subject.
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !
