Why dit de?
Why is it 'Le professeur dit de ne pas courir' and not 'Le professeur dit ne pas courir'?
This question relates to:French lesson "Using negations with infinitive verbs in French indirect speech (French Negations)"
Asked 4 years ago

Hi Helena,
It is because of the verb -
dire de faire quelque chose = to tell (someone) to do something
Take a look at the Kwiziq list of verbs with similar construction -

Hope this helps!
