Moving MoviesThis week, as movie stars enjoy a walk on the beach at the Festival de Cannes, we’re taking the time to celebrate the French septième art ! 😎🎥 France takes great pride in preserving its cinematic identity, notably through what we call l’exception culturelle française. This policy ensures that French cinema remains vibrant and competitive, by helping film production through the Centre National du Cinéma (CNC), which offers grants and tax benefits to filmmakers. In addition, movie theatres in France are required to screen a minimum of 40% French films, and a portion of every movie ticket sold (about 10.7%) is reinvested into new productions. Thanks to these policies, France is one of the few countries where domestic films consistently perform well against Hollywood blockbusters. 🎞️🇫🇷 Alors, sans plus attendre, get out the popcorn, jump onto the sofa and watch all the classic French Kwiziq content we’ve selected for you! 🍿☺️ Quote me on this!⭐ Cannes Festival Edition ⭐ ![]() Le Festival de Cannes being one of the most talked-about cinema events in the world, many have expressed an opinion about it. Here’s a selection of 3 interesting quotes about the festival 🤩: “Cannes, c’est d’abord un escalier : un escalier facile à monter… difficile à descendre.” – French director Claude Lelouch (Cannes is first and foremost a staircase: one that is easy to go up… hard to come down.) “Cannes : un échec constant dominé par les compromis, les combines et les faux pas…” – French director François Truffaut (Cannes: a constant failure dominated by compromises, schemes and blunders…) “Cannes, c’est un endroit bizarre où l’on montre des films qui ne sont pas sûrs de sortir à des gens qui ne sont pas sûrs d’y aller.” – Gilles Jacob, president of Cannes Festival between 2001 and 2014 (Cannes is a strange place where they show films that aren’t sure to be released to people who aren’t sure they’ll attend.)
