In this “Qui est-ce ?” podcast series, Kwiziq’s own super detectives Aurélie and Céline will test your investigative skills as they give you clues (en français bien sûr !) to guess a famous Francophone personality. Here’s some useful vocabulary featured in this podcast to help you conduct your investigation:

  • un domaine d’investigation = an area of investigation
  • s’attaquer à [quelque chose] = to take [something] on

  • un indice = a clue
  • il s’agit de [quelqu’un] = it is [someone]
  • un calepin = a notepad
  • légendaire = legendary
  • débuter = to start

  • Monaco = sovereign city-state located on the French Riviera
  • les États-Unis = United States
  • “La Nuit Américaine” = “Day for Night”, 1973 movie by French director François Truffaut
  • Johnny Hallyday = very famous French rock singer
  • Laura Smet = French actress
  • “Arrête-moi si tu peux” = “Catch me if you can” – Steven Spielberg movie
  • “Downton Abbey 2 : Une nouvelle ère” = “Downton Abbey 2 : A new era”, 2022 movie

1. C’est une actrice française légendaire, dont la carrière a débuté dans les années 1970.

2. Avant de devenir actrice, elle a suivi une formation de danseuse classique et contemporaine à Monaco et aux États-Unis.

3. Elle a eu l’immense honneur de remporter quatre Césars (les “Oscars” français) au cours de sa carrière.

4. Elle a été révélée dans le film “La Nuit américaine” du réalisateur François Truffaut.

5. Dans les années 1980, elle a formé l’un des couples les plus célèbres de France avec le chanteur de rock Johnny Hallyday.

6. C’est la mère d’une autre actrice française très talentueuse et connue : Laura Smet.
