In a lot of the French sentences on Kwiziq, the stress sounds like it is on an odd part of the sentence and I can't figure out the pattern. For example, in "Tu te laves les mains?" above, the word laves is stressed in the recording. And the voice doesn't rise at the end like I would expect for a question. Is that how the question would really be spoken in French? Is there a section here that explains which parts of a sentence are normally stressed?
One of the quiz items is "Je ferais n'importe quoi par amour." Why is "par" used here instead of "pour"?
Bonjour,
In the sentence from the lesson which reads-
“Vous allez aux Etats-Unis.” Here the acute accent on ‘E’ is missing . Should it not be as “États-Unis”?
Hello,
I have been using kwiziq for several months already. But I seem to be eternally stuck at level A1. Is this really my true level? Does it not update according to how many lessons, kwizzes or tests I have taken?
Merci,
Kelly
I heard "et s'il était aussi séduisant que Dick Van Dyke" whereas your text reads "et s'il pouvait être aussi séduisant que Dick Van Dyke"
Have I misheard? I can't hear "pouvait être" in there for the life of me!
Thanks,
Ian
Hello - I cant work out why in the penultimate response the reason why the verbs conjugated like this when the subject pronoun is nous "qui nous maquillera et nous coiffera pour le soir."
I would have thought it was nous maquillerons et nous coifferons
Can you explain?
Hi,
I am under the impression that when conjugating a verb in the passé composé, the past participle will agree in the following instances:
When using avoir with a preceding direct object and using être and s'être. However, I have recently seen instances of conjugations of être/s'être not having any agreement.
Could anyone please tell me why this is?
For example, why is the following sentence correct?
Les conférenciers s'étaient juré de nous renseigner sur l'histoire.
Le genre s'était enrichi grâce à Ray Bradbury et à plusieurs auteurs qui se sont succédé tels que Stephen King et J.G Ballard.
I would appreciate any responses,
Thanks!
Rebecca :)
