The question asks for a correct translation of this sentence "I must have heard a suspicious noise to get up." The answer given in the quiz is "Il faut que j'aie entendu un bruit suspect pour me lever." Why doesn't Il faut have to be in the past given that aie entendu is in the past? "Il fallait que j'aie entendu . . . ."
Why basket, not basketball ?
Elle m'en donne quatre toutes les semaines. Is said to be the correct translation of She gives me four every week. Why is it that the "of them" is understood in English but not in French? Maybe I'm being difficult, but it would seem that the "of them" should be clear either from the preceding information or just clear to whoever is hearing the phrase. Please clarify -- is this another French idiosyncrasy???
In the test the sentence reads "I left for about 15 days." I put Je suis partie pour quinzaine de jours". They say the correct answer is "Je suis partie une quinzaine de jours." Could I have used pendant or durant?

What happens when the indefinite article is followed by a preposition?
For example :
Le médecin travaille dans un hôpital.
The negative sentence according to the rule is ' Le médecin ne travaille pas dans d'hôpital ' .
But d'hôpital sounds so absurd.
Is there any rule of negation when the the indefinite article is followed by a preposition?
Salut, pouvez-vous m'expliquer la phrase suivante:
Non, mais on devrait vérifier discrètement quand on ira la voir le weekend prochain.
Pourquoi on utilise le futur simple pour "aller"?
