Why is "and the accordion used to touch her chin" translated as "et l'accordéon lui touchait le menton" and not as "et l'accordéon la touchait le menton"?
When toucher is used with a noun as an object the pronoun is "la", e.g. "it touches Marie" is "ça touche Marie" and "it touches her" is "ça la touche" so why is "lui" correct in the case above? It seems to imply that the verb was "toucher à".

Why "Il est sept heures et demie du soir." is right (in the test)?Like Debra said below: When using the 24-hour clock (13h, 14h, ...), you don't use et quart, et demie, moins le quart.
But it is 7:30 pm... and it uses with et demie... Why?

I have been told by French people that I cannot apply this rule to the verb commencer à.
For example:
Je commence à faire mes devoirs. J'y commence.
I am starting to do my homework. I'm starting it.
Is it an exception ? Or is it just socially not regularly used ?

In this exercise “I should maybe call the train company” is translated as “je devrai ... “, but “I should really insure my phone” is “je devrais ...” . It’s only a very small detail (and I believe both are pronounced the same, or almost the same, by most people anyway), but why is the future of devoir used in one case and the conditional in the other?
