Never sure about this one. I use ‘sortir’ when I’m leaving a house, for instance, but how does one ‘go out of’ a town? Seems to me that the examples using ‘partir’ and ‘quitter’ are the only correct ones, depending on context.

When can you use  in past tense or 

What would be the difference between “I smell nothing” and I feel nothing”. I thought to feel in this case might require a reflexive construction?   

This may be a strange question, but if you have/see a female dog and you want to describe her, would you use il or elle since "dog" is a masculine noun but the dog itself is a female. Like would I say Il est très gentil or elle est très gentille? I am asking because where I live I always hear female dogs referred to as "il" even when everyone knows the dog is a girl. I don't know if that's just because they don't care about the gender of the dog, or because the proper way to refer to it is as "il" since dog is masculine. 

why this is marked incorrectly 

Je suis arrivé dans cinq minutes." I'll be there in five minutes 

while this is given in lesson 

Je suis là dans deux secondes !I'll be there in two seconds!

Could you also say here ' nous étions allés écouter des chants de Noël à l'église locale.'?

“…four or so…” sounds like an indeterminate or uncountable number to me, hence should be included amongst the right answers to the use of “quelques”.  is it four or isn’t it four? :-)

Pour la phrase, "pendant que les adultes admireront..." j'ai dit, "tandiq que des adultes admireront..." Une correction j'ai recu etait "tandis que d'adultes admireront..." Vous pouvez expliquer pourquoi on dit d'adultes et pas des adultes?
