"ils" vs. "elles""ils" is given as the correct answer and "elles" is marked wrong. Why can't "they" be translated as "elles"?

"les verres" - "wipes glasses" ou "wipes the glasses"?Un des réponses correctes était "elle essuie les verres." La traduction était "She wipes glasses." Est-ce-que ca ne doigt pas "She wipes THE glasses."?

Connaitre ou SavoirSlightly confused here. In the Lawless French Savoir vs Connaitre Quiz. Question no 4 “Il veut ... ce texte par cœur” says that both savoir and connaître are acceptable.
