'tout' (everything) vs 'tous' or 'toutes' (all of them)'Tout' ('too') means 'everything, and its pronunciation must be distinguished from: 'Tous' ('toos') and 'toutes' ('toot') mean all of them. With these ('all of them') Here, there are 2 cases: 1. when used as the noun: (tous etaient content - all of them were happy-'toos'); 2. when used as an adjective of the noun 'they' (as in 'they all' or 'they were ll'): (ils etaient tous content - they were all happy - 'too') The weird one is 'ils l'ont tous eu' - they all passed - by the rule 'tous' should be pronounced 'too', but is pronounced 'toos' because of liaison. Is this correct?

Perfect infinitive vs Après queDoes the sentence "Après qu'il a quitté la soirée, Eric est rentré chez lui" mean the same as "Après avoir quitté la soirée, Eric est rentré chez lui." Is using "après que" an easier way to say the same thing?

two questionswhy "la Saint-Patrick" and not "le jour de Saint-Patrick?" Saint Patrick is masculine as is "jour" however in the answer it is feminine. And could "feter" be used instead of "celebrer" Thank you Christine Clegg

Why is it "Certain" rather than "Some"?I'm a little confused. In the lesson above it said "Before the noun, certain/certaine means 'some' or 'particular': it retains a vagueness here. After the noun, the meaning of certain is similar to the English one of being 'sure, certain, unquestionable'." Yet in the example "Certain projets sont faciles" means "Certain projects are easy." Why is it "Certain" and not "Some"? Many thanks Catherine

How take the intitial proficiency test again is you are a premium userPlease provide a link to the general "proficiency" test.
