Hi! Just a quick question, the play head doesn't allow me to go back or move forward as in if I wanted to play back or listen again to only a certain part of the exercise/story. And I have to listen to the whole thing again, for just one small part. Is this something that is intentional or an oversight? thank you
This isn't the first time in a dictation where a word appears in the text, but isn't in the spoken section. In this specific case, "que" is absent in the spoken portion of the phrase "on s'est vus jeudi avant que vous ne partiez." It (que) is used 8 times in this exercise, and clearly articulated 7 times, (minus the portion mentioned). Is this an error? Or a natural omission for advanced french speaker? Perhaps something to add in another lesson?
In the example, why is 'you would have been in trouble given as vous auriez eu des problems'? I would have expected 'vous auriez été .....' What am I missing?
The lesson appears to focus on making a distinction between use of trouver (to find something) and trouver que (to think something). Yet in the examples the previously mentioned translation (post about a year ago) of the above remains 'he finds' not 'he thinks' and in a dashboard test today "Ils me trouvent charmant"and "Ils me trouvent que ...." were both given as being "they find me charming". Either there is a clear distinction between the 2 forms or there is not. At present the lesson quite clearly makes the case there is but the discordant examples and test answers are confusing. Edit required.
What if you wanted to say "Give him to me", would that be "Donne-lui-moi"? Or would that also be "Donne-le-moi"?
Does "donne-lui-moi" exist?
Merci
I thought the marking was a bit odd as I have underlined the words I got wrong and one was a verb avertir I used in lieu of prèvenir?
- Bonjour Sandra ! J'ai besoin de ton aide. - Qu'est-ce que je peux faire pour toi ? - Je dois partir(quitter) à midi parce que ma fille est malade. Est-ce que tu peux prévenir(avertir) Jean-Pierre ? - Pas de problème ! J'ai une réunion avec lui avant mon déjeuner avec Marielle. - Merci beaucoup ! Lucie a de la fièvre et je suis un peu inquiète. - Je comprends. À demain !Why doesn't the phrase, "I wondered", not agree with the speaker? I wrote, "donc je me suis dite" but the text doesn't have the verb agree with the female speaker as it corrected me with, "donc je me suis dit".
I translated "to be honest" as "à vrai dire" instead of "pour être honnête" but it wasn't accepted. Is there a difference between the two?
Also, my dictionary suggested repérer for "to spot," i.e., "je l'ai repéré par la baie..." Does this not work?
Why don't we need to put 'être' in front of the word 'sale' and 'en bataille'?
