Why can't I say "Nous faisons du progrès." Do I have to say "des progrès"?

Just a question about the mood here : I would have preferred to see le fait que followed by the indicative here, as it is expressing a certainty, not something uncertain/ a supposition.
Opinions anyone ?

Why isn't "rendre fier" correct?
I notice 'je me souviens écouter' is preferred over 'je me souviens d'écouter'. Is there any thinking on when you would use the 'de' and when not ?
''Je n'ai pas mangé de viande depuis dix ans.'' means: I haven't eaten any meat for ten years.
Could we also say "Je n'ai pas mangé la viande depuis dix ans" ?

How much different would it be to ask:

can't ı say that "Il faut qu’elle soit partie avant midi."= she must have finished your homework...
title of the lesson is "Il faut que is always followed by Le Subjonctif Présent"
