Can you explain grammatically the construction if this phrase? I get that it means "we got home from school", but it seems unnecessarily complicated. Could you not say "nous étions retourné de l'école"?

Why is ‘de carte postale’ used with cocoiters (coconut trees) and not sable (sand)? The English sentence uses postcard white sand, not post card coconut trees
So why is it that 1e, 2e, 3e, is only used for ranks / positions and never for dates.. (except 1st/ 1e i think?)
