I noticed that the recording of "deux plus deux égal quatre" has no liason after the second deux but "deux plus deux égale quatre" does. Is it just a coincidence or is there a difference because of égal/égale? I find it difficult to know when to use liason before a vowel and when not to and can't find anything that really explains it.
It would be good to be able to test yourself on vocabulary. One way would be to show French and English in separate columns to allow one column to be hidden. However, I think you can come up with even better ways to quiz and also track vocabulary proficiency in the same way as you track grammar.
I am confused. J'ai monté les escaliers.. Why.. unless I am a carpenter and I have a set of escaliers on my shoulder, surely I remain the intransitive subject .. I am not doing anything to the stairs.. I am climbing using the stairs. I am carrying myself, not the stairs. Could you use je suis monté par les escaliers? to escape the trap?
Which type of sentence structure does French use?
So instead of using Je I have to use J'ai ? Am I understanding this correctly?
"J’ai commencé par laver et changer les draps, ce qui n’est pas une partie de plaisir toute seule"
I don't understand "toute seule" here. It appears to be behaving as an adjective, not an adverb.
If it is an adjective, what is it supposed to be agreeing with ?
The film was released in 2002 = Le film est sorti en 2002. Classic passé composé. But I'm trying to understand the usage of plus que parfait. What does it mean if you say "Le film était sorti en 2002?"' Is that the film had been released?
Has anybody seen the subtítles in the video ?
