The question is make "Elle s'est maquillée" negative. The following two responses each have a spelling mistake but one is considered "nearly right" and the other is considered incorrect. The answers are "S'est-elle maquillee" and "S'est-elle maquillé". I don't see the difference in the context of the question! Why aren't both "nearly right"?
Is 'un pique-nique' really a packed lunch in French and not a picnic? Could you say "J'ai pris un pique-nique au travail" and it means some food that you took from home and ate at work? I always assumed 'un pique-nique' was really the same as in English, taking food from home to sit and eat outside somewhere in the sun.
I am totallyconfused by some of your English translations for the Passive

How are you differentiating in English between Passé Composé and the Imparfait? Eg "Ils ont été accuellis par le xxx and "ils etaient accueillis par le xxx". You translate the second sentence in the tests as "They were welcomed by " but then how would you translate the first sentence?? When you ask fir a translation of "The boy was welcomed by" you can't mark it wrong if one gives answer in passé composé as opposed to "imparfait"?

In the Sentence, "Le premier jour a été très dur", why is this not an opinion calling for the imparfait?
hi.can I use " dans" to say" J' habite dans Layon"

I was wondering why "j'irai finir" is used instead of "je vais finir." Is there a subtle difference in meaning between them? Thanks!
