Is it ok to use like this?

A couple of minor points 1. In the 'best answer' «le kilo» was suggested to be changed to «le kg». I would expect to find the latter on the grocer's sign but not used when the grocer clearly says 'le kilo'. 2. «Coûtent» is being indicated as preferred spelling instead of «coutent». At the least, both are equally acceptable. Académie-française and Le Robert both list «couter» as acceptable, with the latter showing all conjugations used with this form. I understand that most affected words have now been changed so just flagging as one that has not. 

Qu'est-ce que "younger/little brother" ? 

Est-ce «frère plus juene» ou «frère cadet» ?

When to use être à vs the possessive pronouns? Spoken vs written or are they just interchangeable?

In "j'irai au Carnaval de Nice", why is the word "carnaval" capitalised.?

Their own website does not use a capital for "carnaval" in “le carnival de Nice”. 

See this page where there are 2 instances:

although, strangely, in other parts of the page, in different contexts, the word is capitalized.

Instead of "on doit se faire plasir" could one say "on doit se soigner"?

Instead of "dans la rue" could one say "le long de la rue"?

Instead of "nous irons voir la fanfare en famille" could one say "nous irons en famille voir la fanfare" (I can find several instances of "irons en famille voir" in a Google search).?

Cecile and Chris I am more confused. Cecile seems to be saying "vous va" could be right as it can be singular but formal. Is it the "ton" which determines which "you" you use?

Why isn’t “Quelle  une bonne idée” an acceptable answer as it is the most literal translation?

Why is this text written mostly in present tense but translated in past tense? How can we know when it's appropriate to use this technique to make our own storytelling easier?
