The sentence tout le monde éclata de rire quand ils ont vu uses first the passé simple and then the passé composé. Why is the same form of the passé not used for both ? I read in the Lawless French article on the passé simple that it's not used in conjunction with the passé composé (https://www.lawlessfrench.com/grammar/passe-simple/).
I am confused by the quizzes I am taking on when to use "devoir" and "avoir un besoin de" for "need to". The first question was: "How could you say 'You need to rest?'" I answered that both "Tu as besoin de repos" and "Tu dois de repos" are possible but was told only the first is correct. So, in the second test, when asked how to say "Marie needs to buy a new handbag", I answered only "Marie a un besoin de ..." but was marked wrong for not ALSO choosing "Marie doit acheté..." Finally, on the third quiz, I was asked how to say "You need a new bike." In this case I chose both "avoir besoin de" and "devez..." but this time, like in the first question, I was told only the "avoir besoin de" is correct. I've studied the lesson several times. It says sometimes "devoir" can mean "need to" but it doesn't explain what those times are, and I cannot figure out any distinction in the three sentences above. Aidez moi, svp!
"alors il va préparer l'entré", aint it should be "elle" not "il" referring to her mom ?
for translating the phrase, "who had been waiting for the snow...the correct answer used the imparfait. Wouldn't that be translated as was waiting? (Rather than had been waiting)
I had written 'dans lequel', but received a wrong answer.
In reading the lesson, it stated that after a noun 'dans lequel/le' can be used instead of 'où'.
Why is 'où' the only answer here?

For 'I have long wavy hair', can I write also 'J'ai les longs cheveux ondulés'?

I am confused about the position of adverbs because the video says they go right after the verb they are modifying but when I answered the mini quiz in that way I got 0/2

Hi,
In the example 'appelle-les' the e at the end of appelle is not pronounced.
However, the e is pronounced at the end of 'Regarde-les !' and 'Regarde-la !'
Could you please explain why this is.

When someone asks you if you can swim or you can cook how can you determine whether to use the verb pouvoir or connaitre vs savoir?
I have not learned about the last two verbs just yet as it is in A2 but I am familiar with them but very confused.
