I'd like to know what this sentence says:
"un ogre grand comme une maison"
Please translate. Thank you
Question..What does ''Mon amie non plus.'' mean ?.. answer My friend neither.
“My friend too.“ Is given as a mistake.
.. maybe a bit too correct.. whilst my friend neither is grammatically correct, how many of us would actually say that? I think most would more often say “my friend too”.. meaning” my friend agrees with me!
the lesson says: To express after + -ing / after having + past participle in French, you use the same following structure:
après + Infinitif passé (= infinitive of auxiliary (être or avoir) + past participleATTENTION:
Use the same auxiliary as in compound tenses like Le Passé Composé.
But all the examples are using avoir. Could you expand a little about using être in this situation? Thanks!
Does it say 'la Saint Nicolas est célébré' with a masculine adjective because Nicolas is masculine ?
The answer is AU, but why? Quebec is a not a country nor continent. Why not DANS LE? As for region/states/counties
Pourquoi est-ce que la ponctuation ne fait-elle pas partie de la dictée?
Bonjour Madame !
Thank you for your support and Yes, I will surely co-operate with your French team with my queries in future and provide you sufficient time to answer my problems.
The example “ Vive le temps, vive le temps, vive le temps d’hiver doesn’t relate to en, l’ , au as being taught in the lesson. It might be a special, specific case. Thank you for your feedback.
Merci bien et bonne journée !
The rules you give are quite useful. Thank you.
One thing that I would add is that I can remember easier if I think in terms of who is actually entering. If the Subject is entering, then we use être, but if the "entering" is being done by someone/something other than the Subject, then we use avoir.
Mes filles sont entrées en CP cette année. -> Mes filles
Nous avons entré les informations dans le programme. -> les informations
This works in other cases where we need to decide between avoir and être. (or where the sentence seems to indicate that the action is not done by the sentence subject)
Merci beaucoup. Ce texte est très intéressant! Merci d’avoir partagé.
