The question in the test quiz "Cette année, Michaël ________ perdre du poids" is marked wrong if you enter "doit", it wants "a besoin de". Whilst this is correct in the context of this lesson, as far as I can see looking at the lesson comparing the use of Devoir and Avoir besoin de, the use of "doit" would also be reasonable.
J'ai manqué mon père.
Mon père me manque.

The old house where my parents lived. Is it an ancient house that my parents once lived in or is it a modern house that they formerly lived in?

Having read the transcript and read the translation, I was able to follow most (70%) of what the narrator was saying.
I thought French was supposed to be easy! (It isn't).

The example “ Vive le temps, vive le temps, vive le temps d’hiver doesn’t relate to en, l’ , au as being taught in the lesson. It might be a special, specific case. Thank you for your feedback.

The answer is AU, but why? Quebec is a not a country nor continent. Why not DANS LE? As for region/states/counties

I don't understand why "déguise" is used in the translation of "Grandma always wanted us to be dressed up for the occasion". The suggested answer given is "Mamie voulait toujours qu'on soit déguisés pour l'occasion". All the references I look at imply "make unrecognizable/camouflage", so I'm wondering why "déguisé" is preferred to something like "habillé" in this context? Is it an idiomatic expression?
