Bonjour,
Hi, I was wondering for the duration part would it be okay to say
I read in the evening
Je lire la soiree
And
I spent the day learning French
J'ai passe le jour apprendre francais
Would they be correct if not why?
Thanks
Nicole
The speaker sounds like he is pronouncing the 't' in 'ecart', which should be silent. It almost sounds as if he is saying: "Ils ont cinq ans d'equatre".
When I listened to the word "ecart" in the Collins online dictionary it had the correct pronunciation with the 't' being silent.
Otherwise, I enjoyed this exercise and learned a new word: "ecart". And, now, I don't think I will easily forget it either!
During the exercise we see “ognon” instead of “oignon”, although this mistake is not present in the consolidated block of text at the end of the exercise. Here’s a copy/paste of the line during the exercise: “et mélangez-la avec l'ognon et l'ail finement hachés”
Frustrating. I know that you cannot cover every eventuality but with the multiple choice questions, I am so often finding that I have got the topic correct but that there is another trap in the questions but the learn and discuss sends me back to the bit I have got right!.. like when to put -t- between two vowels (a-t-appellé) sends me back to the passé composé I can see that the traps are meant to be helpful but not when we can't see why it is actually wrong and keep making the same mistake.
Pourriez-vous expliquer l'exemple "Nous n'habitons pas ici depuis très longtemps.", s'il vous plait ?
Merci
Maybe it's just on my end but the "avoir" example has "eu" and "pris" examples under it.
Why don't you use the article "un" with demi-tour? I was marked wrong for that.
Why does the first word have its final “e”? Is is agreeing with the feminine noun “fin”?
Also, is the first word best considered as an adjective or as a past participle in this sentence?
If I do not read or write in french does it mean I do not have to learn the Passe Simple :)
