question was about walking in MOMA but what is that? effects use, no?
A number of places are have a disputed status; in these cases would the form used vary with the opinion of the speaker? For instance, whilst Kwiziq states «au Québec» (as if it's a country), I can find «dans le Québec» being used.
Could someone manage to accidentally imply a particular opinion by using one form rather than another? (Presumably, this would apply more strongly to a less common form.)
(And in trying to find this out, I've discovered in/to Taiwan is «à Taïwan», following the rule for a city.)
en ce moment, il neige dans ma petite ville et une croisière sur la Seine, en été, semble très agréable.
I struggled with this translation. Part of it is not having sufficient vocabulary to do it (mostly because of not having been exposed to much of it in previous work) and part of it is not knowing exactly what the expected answers might be. I have come to dread these exercises (I much prefer the dictees) and feel really quite inadequate at the end of each. Should I drop back a level and work on B1 rather than B2 exercises or should I just say to **** with it all and be content with the (inadequate) level of proficiency I've acquired? I am feeling very discouraged!!
Doesn't "s'attendre à ce que" take the subjunctive? Or is there an exception in this case that wasn't noted in the lesson? Attendre quelqu'un vs s'attendre à quelque chose = to wait vs to expect in French
Why oh why don't you have an app?
In the last question I chose to use sera and not va être and I wonder why this was considered to be incorrect. I know the difference and if being rigid yes, it's wrong but of course some people will say "will be" rather than "going to be" so some latitude would be helpful.
