monter dans doit prendre etre, n'est-ce pas ? voyez le quiz
Yes, the English word "miss" was used, but I understand that mademoiselle has basically been stricken from the language unless one is strictly speaking to a very young girl. Are we to assume that is the implication here?
When is un used and when is une used in math? According to AI, un is "always" used, but you use une in one of your math examples. Which is correct?
Bonjour,
Thank you for this fun little story about the fall. Just a couple of questions:
I wrote "devenir malade" which was marked as wrong. I understand that "tomber malade" is a common expression, but couldn't you use "devenir" as well as "tomber" or "etre"?
Also, I used "soigneux" instead of "prudent". And, I believe "Je fais beaucoup d'attention" is correct, too.
Merci tout le monde,
Hilary
Instead of "digne d'un conte de fées", can you not just say 'féerique'?
And how about 'le sort' instead of 'le charme' ?
In the sentence "Le nouveau James Bond est sorti la semaine dernière", "sorti" is followed by a noun. So you should qualify your assertion that "When sortir is followed immediately by a noun (as opposed to a preposition), it uses avoir as the auxiliary" by excluding the case where the noun is a component of an adverbial phrase.
One of the questions in the test was this: Alice fait du ski mais Thomas ________de ski.
Obviously, goes into the space, but I wonder why Alice fait ski and Thomas fait ski. Thanks.
How do you know when to use the subjunctif présent?
I've encountered confusing hints in several writing exercises. As in this one: it says at one point "use 'les châtaignes'" when the correct answer is "des châtaignes." This is just one example of several unreliable hints.
