The first sentence,  "il faut vraiment que l'on discute de ta mère"  is the contraction  l'on for "le" or "la" ?  I still don't get why it is even needed.  Would it not work to say, "...qu'on disute de ta mère"  which then maps to English as "that we discuss about your mother". 
I'm guessing that it's a direct object pronoun, but then why isn't "de ta mére"  the object of the sentence?

In a recent test question: "In 1515, Francis I won the battle of Marignano." the correct answer was "a gagné" and not "gagne".  Why does the "Historical Present" not apply in this case ?https://french.kwiziq.com/questions/view/using-the-present-tense-like-the-past

I continually get tripped up with this. I interpret the statement as being the last (previous) time so I enter ‘la fois dernière’ which is marked as incorrect. If the correct answer is ‘la dernière fois’ what is it about the statement that tells me that it’s the last (final) time?

Hi, this struck me as odd: "vous devriez peut-être considérer que la relation n'est pas n'est pas censée durer" - why not just "n'est pas censée durer"? Why the repetition?

Can we say aux agents de bord instead of avec les agents de bord?

If the verb is se passer, should it not be "Comment tes vacances se sont-ils passées" 

If the verb is simply passer, should it not be "Comment sont passées tes vacances"
