Subject vs object ...I found the lesson confusing as well as the answer to this question. Je (subject) regarde (object) un film object, why was (un film) the subject. Also in the lesson its informs us that the "subject" can be replaced with with a "pronoun" , and then proceeds to replace the "object" with a "Pronoun. I do not comprehend why I am wrong."

How do you replace a noun with a preposition other than à or de please?Il faut que j’achète un cadeau pour son anniversaire. I must buy a present for his birthday. I know you can use the adverbial pronoun y to replace 'à + noun', and en to replace 'de + noun', but how would you replace 'pour son anniversaire' in the sentence above please? In order to make the sentence: I must buy a present for it? [Am i right in thinking this called replacing an object of a preposition with a pronoun?]

I almost never get an answer to my questions, but I will try once more. I learned that ," J'ai mal a la tete" meant "My head hurts," or "I have a headache, (sorry but don't know the keystrokes here to get accent symbols). Now, in this exercise, it's using "faire" rather than "avoir" to express physical discomfort, but the answer concenrates only on the use of possessive adjectives, not the strange change from "avoir" to "faire." I feel frustrated and very confused. Help!
